In 2019, Bahrain’s Ministry of Works awarded a $36.5m contract to water treatment provider Bluewater Bio for the project. Bahrain’s Works, Municipal Affairs, and Urban Planning Minister Esam bin Abdullah Khalaf has said that work on the Tubli wastewater plant is on track.
The minister assessed the progress of work on Phase 4 of the expansion project that aims to accommodate the increased flow of wastewater, taking the average daily flow capacity of 200,000 m3/day to reach a full average daily flow capacity of 400,000 cubic meters/day, Bahrain News Agency reported.
The project includes a collection room for wastewater streams 21m underground and a pump 25.1m underground that will receive wastewater flows from the collection room. In 2019, Bahrain’s Ministry of Works awarded a $36.5m (BHD13.8m) contract to British water treatment provider Bluewater Bio to work on the Tubli wastewater treatment plant as part of a scheme backed by UK Export and Finance (Ukef).
