nogaholding Kicks off Empower Program for University Students
The Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C (“nogaholding”) and its operating companies have kicked off the summer internship program, Empower. The program is designed to provide university students with hands-on working experience and will run during July and August.
Empower will enable around 200 undergraduates to experience real work situations at nogaholding and some of the major companies within its portfolio, including, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company (Bafco), Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY), Tatweer Petroleum, Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) and Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company (GPIC).
The program focuses on equipping a new generation of workers with the necessary knowledge to not only participate, but lead through innovation in the oil and gas industry. Participants will be assigned to different functions within each company in line with their chosen university major while serving to complete their graduation requirements.
Commenting on the program, Mark Thomas, Group CEO of nogaholding, said: “nogaholding aims to inspire the next generation of youth in the Kingdom. As one of the most important assets to the Kingdom, students play an integral role in shaping the future of the industry, and our goal is to provide them with challenging opportunities to test and ultimately enhance their skills. Empower will help build the business and technical skills of our youth, enabling them to become future industry leaders.”
