Abdulla Attef, founder of Bahrain Bats aims to generate increased interest for the baseball sport in Bahrain and introduce quality bats with customized options and superior quality that will drive further attention to the sport.

 He plans to build his market reach via an online portal where customers can place direct orders, in addition to an apps that will add more value and benefits for customers.

Starting the company

I started Bahrain Bats in September 2021 when I came back from Egypt one day, and I bought a baseball bat for me and a couple of friends. The inspiration came at that moment, and with the generous support of my brother, I soon realized my idea of selling baseball bats in Bahrain.

There is a market gap in the popularity of baseball as a sports, and in the supply of quality baseball bats in Bahrain. So when I first started the company, my initial step was to generate greater awareness in the sports.

Customized and unique

We sell customized baseball bats, and we operate through social media platforms such as Instagram. Delivery for orders usually takes around one to two days.  Bahrain Bats is the first company in Bahrain which ventured into the sale of wooden baseball bats; and we have also set up a franchise to expand our market reach in Egypt.

Our baseball bats are unique because customers can have them personalized with engraving. In addition, we guarantee quick service delivery. Our market for baseball bats are predominantly male, in the range of 18 up to 45 years of age.

The Challenges

Cancellation of order is the usual problem because as soon as a customer places an order, we immediately start with the engraving process. So we end up losing the baseball bat, which is why we make it a procedure to confirm orders only upon receipt of an advanced payment.

Somebody once commented on our Instagram page, “Be careful, you are selling deadly  weapons.” I replied to him that any thing around us can be used as a deadly weapon if it is not used properly.

So that’s what our slogan is all about—“Be safe!”. People here in Bahrain have wrong assumptions about the baseball bat because the sport is not that common here, and this is why they think that we are selling bats for a wrong or different purpose.

Our team of workers are treated like valued family members. Everyone is welcome to pitch in their ideas to help us improve our business, everyone in the team is as important as the leader.

 Looking forward

 We look forward to expanding further and opening up a new store here in Bahrain as well as in other countries which do not have an active baseball bat market and wherein the sports does not have a significant following. Our goal in the near future is to open a huge store, one with sufficient space for equipment and machines and wherein the team can work comfortably.

Plans are underway in the development of a website and an application to speed up the ordering process for our customers. We also intend to provide a wider range of colors and sizes to satisfy a wide range of tastes and preferences.
