Batelco launches 2.7MW data centre hub in Bahrain
Bahrain-based telecommunications company Batelco has opened a new data centre hub located in Hamala. The company said the data centre is designed in line with international standards for construction and this facility is the third data centre Batelco has launched.
The data centre spans 12,236-sqm and has a total capacity of 2.7MW that services a total of 250 working cabins. Commenting on the launch, H.E. Engineer Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed said, “The telecommunication sector is a key pillar in the success and prosperity of Bahrain’s economy, particularly the digital economy, and on this occasion, I would like to congratulate Batelco on its achievement in launching a world-class certified data centre that is in line with the Fifth Telecommunications Plan to support the Kingdom’s digital economy and facilitate digital transformation in various sectors.
“I am pleased to witness the recent remarkable developments in the telecommunication and Information technology sector, which is reflected in the development of mobile services such as the launch of 5G and broadband services, as well as digital solutions related to cloud computing, the Internet of Things and data centres, and these are all indicators of very positive progress in the Kingdom’s digital economy.”
