Bahrain raises minimum salary for sponsoring family
According to local media, Bahrain has increased the minimum monthly salary threshold for expatriates who choose to sponsor their family members.
The decision released by Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the minimum monthly wage was previously BD250 and has now been increased to BD400 and according to judgment, when supporting a spouse, wife, or children, an expatriate’s monthly income must be at least BD400.
The expatriates’ minimum monthly income must be at least BD1,000 to sponsor children or parents over the age of 24. In Bahrain, they must also have valid health insurance. The new decision stated that the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA) could, at their discretion, exempt some cases.
