Heavy sandstorm sweeps Saudi Arabia
According to Al Arabiya, an extreme sandstorm engulfed many areas of Saudi Arabia, obstructing visibility and prompting authorities to issue a weather alert. According to the Saudi Press Agency, a dust storm swept through the country’s northern areas, including Al Jaw, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and the eastern parts of Mecca and Medina (SPA).
Streetlights and electricity poles were blown over by high winds and thick dust on the streets with Hail, according to a video posted on social media sites. In another video, a bright red cloud of dust engulfed Arar in the Northern Borders Province, completely blocking visibility.
As sandstorms swept the Kingdom, the Saudi Civil Defence urged the public to take precautions. The civil defense released a statement urging people to stay at home, especially those with respiratory illnesses. It also urged drivers to be vigilant when driving near streetlights, power poles, and billboards.
