Bahrain’s public utility to digitalize its operations
The public utility of the kingdom, Bahrain Electricity, and Water (EWA) is to incorporate advanced digital technologies through its operations.
The aim of the company which serves 430,000 electricity customers and 310,000 water customers to bring improved customer services, asset management of the distribution network, and reduced income losses. EWA has hired Minisait, a subsidiary of the Spanish technology giant Indra, for the solutions.
The project is a pillar of the transformation strategy of EWA, which, in turn, forms part of the transformation initiative of the Government of Bahrain to become one of the best in the country. To digitalize customer support with mobile applications and a website, the project will incorporate Minisait’s Onesait utility Customers solution. Mobility applications for fieldwork management are part of the solution.
Sheikh Nawaf Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, CEO of EWA had commented that “Signing this contract fulfills our goals of providing water and electricity services of the best quality and reliability level to guarantee a sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain and become a leading model in this field”.
From the formation and receipt of network expansion projects to the maintenance and support of sales department requests, Minisait will also incorporate solutions from its Onesait Utilities Grid suite to speed up network maintenance and growth processes.
