Gulf Air moves into the New Terminal at Bahrain International Airport
Bahrain International Airport welcomed its new terminal on 28th January. The country’s national airline, Gulf Air is the first carrier to move in and it operated its first outbound commercial flight to Delhi, also received its first inbound flight from Lahore.
First Flights
Gulf Air operated its first outbound flight which was GF2130 to Delhi on one of the newest Airbus A320neo aircraft at 14:35 local time.
The first incoming flight was a Gulf Air 787-9 service from Lahore at 14:50 local time.
The last flight from the old terminal was to Dubai as GF504 at 10:55 in Airbus A320neo.
Bahrain’s International Airport is relatively a suitable size for the region of 1.6 million people. However, an advanced and modern terminal was required for its airport which was built in 1961.
The New Facilities
The new terminal which is a size four times larger than the previous one is expected to accommodate up to 14 million passengers per year. The new terminal will also offer more in the way of shopping and amenities for passengers.
