The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has announced its support for 16 Bahraini startups participating in the Web Summit Qatar 2025, which is taking place from February 23 to 26, 2025. This event gathers thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, and technology leaders from around the world to discuss the latest developments in technology and innovation, making it one of the largest specialized events in the field.
This support aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2025, which focuses on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labor market and private sector.
The participation of 16 Bahraini startups in this event will help strengthen the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, support local startups, and facilitate their expansion into global markets. This initiative is part of Tamkeen’s ongoing efforts to support startups at various developmental stages and across different economic sectors and to provide them with access to international platforms where they can gain the required exposure, expertise, and insights into the latest technological advancements in this rapidly evolving field.
Bahraini entrepreneurs attending the summit will take part in panel discussions with regional and global technology experts. They will also compete in pitch contests alongside other startups from around the world. This participation will enable local startups to connect with global entrepreneurs and investors, exchange ideas and experiences, and build partnerships that can open doors to new markets.
The Web Summit Qatar attracts more than 15,000 participants from 180 countries, including 400 investors and 1,000 tech startups. Web Summit is recognized as one of the world’s largest technology events, held in multiple locations, including Lisbon, North and South America, and Asia. Since its inception as a small conference with just 150 attendees in Dublin in 2009, the summit has welcomed over half a million participants.
Tamkeen provides a range of programs aimed at supporting the employment and career development of national talent, with the goal of making Bahrainis the preferred choice for employment and making the private sector the engine of economic growth in the Kingdom.
