NBB Sponsors Excellence in ESG Award for INJAZ Bahrain 14th Young Entrepreneurs Competition
The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) was the proud sponsor of one of INJAZ Bahrain 14th Young Entrepreneurs Competition Signature Awards, held on 28th and 29th June 2022 in Wyndham Grand Manama. The two-day event, which was attended by over 200 students from 15 high schools and 10 universities across the Kingdom of Bahrain, showcased the culmination of hard work and determination exhibited by the INJAZ Bahrain students, and aimed to motivate and stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit of the local youth.
NBB sponsored the “Excellence in Environmental Social Governance Award” which was presented by Deena Kohwari, a Team Leader of Commercial & SMEs Business Credit Review and Sustainability Officer at NBB to “Masoolytna from Modern Knowledge Schools”, while NBB’s Sustainability Committee members also held an awareness session on ESG and how to integrate best practices across business operations. NBB’s Sustainability Committee was also part of a judging panel which assessed the student submissions as part of the “NBB Excellence in Environmental Social Governance Award”.
Commenting on the occasion, Dana Buheji, Group Chief Human Resources & Sustainability Officer, said: “We are proud to have partnered with INJAZ Bahrain on this competition which demonstrates NBB’s firm belief in the talents and capabilities of the Bahraini youth, and we plan to extend our value-add to some of the contestants by supporting them on their future projects through long-term partnerships”.
“NBB has built extensive experience in ESG practices and success frameworks, leading the industry in this domain. This event presented us with an opportunity to share our sustainability journey with the next generation of industry professionals and we hope to further extend this knowledge to the local youth and motivate them to embrace ESG practices in their future ventures as they enter the workforce and pave the way for new industry standards”, she concluded.
